adiophora?

I have compiled a list of things that Anglicans who uphold the authority of scripture have agreed to disagree.  Is there a unifying theme?  Are there things that should not be on this list?  Did I leave something out?

  • Divorce and remarriage
  • The use of contraceptives that are abortificents
  • The gifts of the Spirit active or ceased
  • Free will or predestination
  • Real presence or memorial in regards to the Eucharist
  • The Ordination of Women

  1. And those who uphold these things stand on what exactly to call themselves orthodox? What, pray tell, do they think orthodoxy is if not the dogmas and morals of the Catholic Church?

Why try to re-create the failed experiment of the Elizabethan Settlement all over again with GAFCON/Common Cause? Newman was right, Anglicanism is a paper religion.

    Cheers,
    Thurs.

  2. If we are in error please pray for us and condemn with love. Blanket statements do not convince, they harden. Here is my reply: Just because the Anglican church does things that are wrong, it does not make Catholicism true. Just because Gene Robinson was consecrated as bishop of New Hampshire that does not make purgatory the proper understanding of what happens to souls after death. It also does not make the pope infallible. It also does not mean that Mary never sinned and was assumed into heaven. We may be wrong and it may be the death of us. It does not make RC claims true. For example if I say the sky is green and you say that it is purple, my being wrong does not make you right.
